This Privacy Policy explains what information TechAssist collects, how we use it, and your choices. By using TechAssist you agree to this Policy. TechAssist is intended for users in the United States and for appliance-repair professionals aged 18+.
1. Information we collect
You provide:
- Account info — email address and password (passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider, not by us in plain text).
- Profile info — optional details such as your postal/ZIP code (used to localize parts lookups).
- Content you enter — appliance model numbers, symptoms, and notes you submit to get a diagnostic, and tech-sheet requests you make.
Collected automatically:
- Usage & diagnostic history — the diagnostics you run (model, symptom, result, timestamps, response time) so you can view your history and so we can operate and improve the Service.
- Device identifier — a device ID used for app functionality and abuse prevention.
- Technical/log data — standard information such as app version and basic request metadata.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, and the Service is not directed to children under 18.
2. How we use information
- To provide diagnostics, tech sheets, and parts lookups;
- To create and manage your account and subscription;
- To maintain your history and notify you when a requested tech sheet is found;
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service (including rate-limiting and abuse prevention);
- To send you service and account emails, and — only where permitted — occasional product updates (you can opt out of marketing emails at any time); and
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How information is shared
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Service providers ("subprocessors") who process data on our behalf, such as our hosting/database/auth provider (Supabase), our email-delivery provider (Resend, sent via Amazon SES), our automation/back-end (n8n), and parts/data and document providers used to fulfill lookups and tech-sheet searches. These providers may only use the data to perform services for us.
- Legal/safety — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
- Business transfers — if the Service is acquired or merged, data may transfer as part of that transaction.
We do not share your information with advertisers, and we do not use it for cross-app tracking.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and diagnostic history for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 7). We may retain limited information as required by law or for legitimate business records.
5. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards (including encrypted transport and access controls) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access/update — you can view and update your profile in the app.
- Marketing emails — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link; service/transactional emails (e.g., password resets, receipts) are necessary to use the Service.
- Account deletion — contact us at support@techassisthq.com to delete your account and personal data.
California residents (CalOPPA / CCPA notice): California law gives certain residents rights regarding their personal information, including the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email support@techassisthq.com. We honor "Do Not Track" by not tracking you across third-party sites.

8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. For material changes we will notify you in-app and/or by email and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
